Iraqi Children Foundation’s Hope Bus Children Participate in Embassy of Iraq Art Show

June 12, 2024   Washington, DC – Colorful artwork created by orphans and vulnerable children at the Iraqi Children Foundation’s Hope Buses in Baghdad was on display at the June 8 Children’s Art Exhibit at the Embassy of Iraq in Washington, DC.

The Embassy exhibit, entitled “The Creativity of Iraqi Children Through Art,” featured eight drawings from Hope Bus boys and girls as well as numerous works of art from the Children’s Culture House of the Iraq Ministry of Culture.  The event included a Oud musical performance by Laith Alattar and face painting for children in attendance.

“Children everywhere use art to express their dreams and their hopes for the world. This holds true whether they live here in Washington or on the outskirts of Baghdad. These amazing pieces from Iraq remind us of our common humanity.” said Grant Felgenhauer, member and past Chairman of the Iraqi Children Foundation’s Board of Directors.

The themes of Iraq’s rich historical heritage as well as themes related to nature and home featured prominently in the children’s art, with observers noting how the colors and light of children’s art can reflect change from times of conflict and hardship to the present.
